The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced the deployment of a passport intervention team to four cities in the United Kingdom to clear backlogs and attend to Nigerians seeking new passports, renewals and resolution of pending applications.
The exercise will run from September 7 to September 26, 2026, in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi.
According to the NIS, the intervention follows an earlier directive by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and was undertaken after consultations with the High Commission of Nigeria and representatives of Nigerian communities in the UK.
The provisional locations, venues and dates are:
London: Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London N14 4UW — September 7 to 19.
Manchester: Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE — September 7 to 19.
Aberdeen: Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR — September 21 to 26.
Cardiff: Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff CF11 9XR — September 21 to 26.
The Service said eligible Nigerians living in the affected cities and surrounding areas who require new passports, renewals or assistance with pending applications are encouraged to take advantage of the intervention.
Applicants are required to complete their applications and make the necessary payments through the NIS Passport Application Portal before attending the exercise.
The intervention is part of efforts by the Immigration Service to address passport-related challenges faced by Nigerians in the diaspora and improve access to passport services.
