Billionaire entrepreneur and visionary founder of Neuralink, Elon Musk has recently revealed that the first human has successfully received an implant from the brain-chip startup and is well on the way to recovery.
Musk shared this exciting development on the social media platform X, emphasizing the promising results of neuron spike detection observed in the initial phase.
The surgical milestone comes as no surprise, considering that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had granted Neuralink clearance in September to conduct its first trial involving human subjects.
Neuralink’s Big Step Into The Future
This ingenuity marks a crucial step forward in the company’s mission to revolutionize neurotechnology and provide solutions for individuals facing paralysis and various neurological conditions.
Neuralink’s innovative approach involves a robot surgically placing a brain-computer interface (BCI) implant in a specific brain region responsible for controlling the intention to move.
The ultimate goal is to empower individuals to control computer cursors or keyboards using their thoughts alone—an ambitious endeavor that holds the promise of transforming lives.

Reports surfaced in December 2022 regarding the company’s testing, which allegedly resulted in the deaths of around 1,500 animals, including sheep, monkeys, and pigs. Although the head of the US Department of Agriculture found no violations in animal research rules in July 2023, a separate ongoing investigation underscores the scrutiny Neuralink faces.
