A Public Affairs Analyst and Media Personality, Mr. Oni Olalekan has refuted the rumour and credibility of a purported 2017-2019 audit report implicating the former commissioner in corruption and funds misappropriation during the first term of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
The report, reportedly from the Chairman of the Public Account Committee of the Ondo State House Assembly, accused the former commissioner of mismanaging over 4.3 billion naira.
However, during a radio program that aired on Crest FM Akure recently, Oni expressed skepticism about the report, emphasizing that its credibility is yet to be proven or pursued by relevant authorities.
Dismissing the accusations as cheap political tactics, Oni challenged those alleging corruption against Mr. Wale Akinterinwa to present concrete evidence in a court of law rather than relying on public opinion.
The emergence of this report coincides with Wale Akinterinwa’s recent prominence in the news, particularly after the dissolution of the Ondo State Executive Council cabinet. Speculation arose, suggesting that he was designated by the late Akeredolu to succeed him as the Governor of the Sunshine State.
Amid these developments, the dismissal of the audit report adds another layer to the unfolding narrative surrounding Akinterinwa’s political standing.
