Met Gala 2025: Black Style Takes Centre Stage in Dazzling Display of Tailored Glamour

Fashion met history on Monday night as the Met Gala 2025 spotlighted Black style and dandyism under the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”—the first time in over two decades the event focused solely on menswear.

Inspired by a new Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibit, the event celebrated the power of clothing in shaping Black identities across the Atlantic diaspora.

Celebrities showed up and showed out, blending tradition with modern swagger in some of the boldest fashion statements the Gala has seen.

Rihanna stunned the world with her baby bump reveal in Marc Jacobs, while A$AP Rocky, one of the night’s co-chairs, rocked a Harlem-inspired self-designed outfit. Demi Moore transformed into a literal men’s tie in a sculptural Thom Browne piece, and Zendaya kept it classic in a cream Louis Vuitton suit with a pop of red on her nails.

Diana Ross made a long-awaited return after two decades, dressed in a dramatic feathered gown embroidered with the names of her children and grandchildren.

Other standouts included Simone Biles in a royal blue minidress by Harbison Studio, Colman Domingo’s double-look tribute to André Leon Talley, and Doja Cat’s fierce shoulder pads in Marc Jacobs.

From Barry Keoghan’s floral Valentino suit to Cardi B’s ivy green Burberry ensemble, stars leaned into the theme, not just with tailoring but with meaning—highlighting heritage, history, and bold reinterpretations of masculinity and elegance.
