Tinubu to Launch National Values Charter, Pushes for Unity and Patriotism in 2025

In his New Year message, President Bola Tinubu announced the imminent unveiling of the National Values Charter, an initiative already approved by the Federal Executive Council, slated for the first quarter of 2025.

The charter, according to Tinubu, will promote mutual commitments between the government and citizens, aiming to foster trust, cooperation, and unity within Nigeria’s diverse population.

Describing the initiative as a cornerstone of his administration’s vision, Tinubu phrased its role in inspiring patriotism and fostering collective national identity. “As far-reaching and foundational as our reforms are, they can produce the desired outcomes only through shared common values and unconditional love for our country,” he said.

The president also revealed plans for a Youth Confab in early 2025, underscoring his government’s commitment to inclusivity and youth empowerment.

He urged the Ministry of Youth to finalize the process for selecting representatives, ensuring the conference reflects the diversity of Nigeria’s youthful population.

Beyond fostering unity, Tinubu reiterated the importance of collaboration among federal, state, and local governments to harness opportunities in agriculture, livestock development, and ongoing tax reforms. Commending governors who have embraced the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative and integrated electric vehicles into the national energy mix, Tinubu assured continued federal support for state-level initiatives in these areas.

The president’s message also included a call to action for Nigerians to embody moral uprightness and a sense of national duty. He urged citizens to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that achieving national objectives requires a collective commitment to ethical principles, shared values, and devotion to the country.

“The success of our national reforms depends on the moral rectitude and faith of our people,” Tinubu stated.

He added that 2025 would mark a renewed commitment to these ideals under the National Identity Project, a program designed to instill a sense of unity and purpose among Nigerians.
