Momentum is building in Johannesburg as world leaders prepare to gather for the Global Fund’s 8th Replenishment Summit this Friday, a pivotal event aimed at mobilising billions of dollars to accelerate the fight against HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria.
The high-profile summit will be co-hosted by His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and The Right Honourable Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
It will be held alongside the G20 Leaders Summit at the Sandton Convention Centre on November 21, with a hybrid format allowing for both in-person and online participation.
Co-hosted by South Africa and the United Kingdom in partnership with the Global Fund, the event represents a critical juncture for the global health community.
The Global Fund, as the world’s largest financier of programs targeting these three diseases, plays a central role in driving health impact across the globe. This year’s summit is expected to galvanise bold financial commitments, accelerate action, and strengthen international partnerships.
In a joint effort, South Africa and the UK are championing the core values that underpin the Global Fund’s partnership model: solidarity, sustainability, innovation, equity, and reform.
The gathering will bring together leaders from governments, civil society, multilateral organisations, and the private sector to secure the investments needed to expand life-saving health programs.
Discussions at the summit will focus not only on direct disease response but also on advancing resilient and sustainable health systems designed to protect communities and drive long-term progress.
The call to action is clear: together, the world must #StopAtNothing to end AIDS, TB, and malaria.
