Ekiti State is set to celebrate Nigerian Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, as he turns ninety on July 13th. The event is organized by the Ekiti Book Club, the Association of Nigerian Authors and the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria.
The celebration will be hosted by veteran journalist, former Special Adviser to President Buhari, and former Senator, Babafemi Ojudu, at his residence, The Farm, in Ado-Ekiti.
The event is intended to honor Soyinka for his numerous contributions to the development of humanity, especially his continuous advocacy for a better Nigeria.
Ojudu states:
“There is no better place to celebrate and honor Wole Soyinka than in Ekiti, where Ogun himself hailed from and his spirit reigns supreme.”
Meanwhile, The President of the Ekiti Book Club, Adesina Adetola says: “Wole Soyinka is a man of many parts, but of one course which is centered on the betterment of humanity. Whether his writings, academic posture, originality, mien, cultural advocacy, or Africanism, everyone has an angle to celebrate him.”
Regardless, the Ekiti-Based event promises to be a grand celebration of Soyinka’s life and achievements.
