Dozens of persons have already given eyewitness accounts bordering on allegations of sexual assault, physical abuse, faked miracles and trauma -allegedly suffered in the hands of a late Nigerian pastor, Temitope Joshua, aka TB Joshua.
The BBC said it conducted a two-year investigation, in collaboration with an international media platform – Open Democracy, which involved more than 15 BBC journalists across three continents.
The report stated that former insiders estimated that Joshua made tens of millions of dollars from pilgrims and other money streams – fundraising, video sales, and stadium appearances abroad.

In the realm of spiritual leaders, the name Temitope Joshua, or TB Joshua, once carried an aura of reverence. However, the BBC’s investigative journey into his legacy unveils a narrative that transcends miracles, stretching into the unsettling shadows of sexual assault, abuse, and a meticulously constructed web of deception.
As the Nigerian audience awaits the revelations set to unfold in the coming weeks, a disconcerting chapter in TB Joshua’s story comes to light.
A Can Of Dead worms
For a figure once celebrated for his healing touch and spiritual prowess, TB Joshua’s influence extended beyond Nigeria, drawing followers from Europe to Africa. However, the investigative journey reveals a stark contrast – accusations of financial manipulation, sexual assault, and the scripted nature of the miracles that once defined his legacy.
The BBC puller over 25 eyewitnesses and victims from various corners of the globe contribute to a haunting chorus of allegations. From the UK to Nigeria, Ghana, the US, South Africa, and Germany, survivors recount experiences of abuse within Joshua’s compound.

One victim, a 21-year-old Briton named Rae, shares a chilling account of her time as a disciple. What began as a quest for healing from her homosexuality unfolded into a nightmare of psychological trauma, solitary confinement, and desperate attempts at suicide.
Also in the picture is one Agomoh Paul, who was once considered Joshua’s right hand. He explained the alleged scripted nature of the miracles that he was privy to while he was at Synagogue. He also exposed a meticulous plan where participants were purportedly paid, drugged, or misled about their health conditions before giving testimony about their miraculous recovery.
Paul’s revelations suggest a deeper motive behind Joshua’s actions – a pursuit of control not only over the miracles but over the minds of his followers.
Altogether, the investigation paints a picture of calculated manipulation extending beyond the spiritual realm.
In the unfolding saga of this close to an hour exposè, the shadows dissipate, revealing a narrative that challenges perceptions and calls for a collective reflection on the darker aspects of spiritual leadership.

There were sources that say that those “cured” had often been paid to perform or exaggerate their symptoms before their supposed healing took place.
In some cases, they say, people had been unknowingly drugged or given medicine to improve their conditions while at the church and later persuaded to give testimony about their recovery. Others were falsely told they had tested positive for HIV/AIDS and that, thanks to Joshua’s ministrations, they had now become virus-free.
As we speak reactions are pouring to defy, demean or accept the reality of this exponential revelations that cuts in on the Synagogue Church of Nations.
