A Multi-Faceted Approach Would End Terrorism In Africa – Nigeria’s President

President Bola Tinubu is concerned about Africa’s security problems, especially how the noxious activities of terrorists is permeating the region’s from different sides.

Speaking on Monday at a African High-level Meeting on Counter-Terrorism in Abuja, President Tinubu advocated for the establishment of a regional counter-terrorism center to facilitate intelligence sharing, operational coordination, and capacity building across Africa.

He also empmphasized on the need for Africa to adopt a holistic approach in combating terrorism, addressing not only its symptoms but also its underlying causes such as poverty, inequality, and social injustice.

The ECOWAS boss highlighted the importance of tackling the financial sources of terrorism, including ransom and illegal mining, which divert resources from essential societal needs like education and healthcare.

According to him, the necessity of strengthening existing counter-terrorism structures cannot be over-emphasized.

At the meeting, it was also suggested that the quick establishment of a regional standby force capable of rapid deployment to address major threats effectively.
