Green Lock FC’s charismatic head coach, Bolarinwa Idris, has issued a bold declaration of intent following the club’s high-profile relocation to Shagamu, Ogun State.
Speaking on the heels of the team’s last training of the week, the tactician expressed unwavering confidence in his squad’s ability to dominate the region’s football landscape and make an immediate impact in the upcoming Nationwide League One (NLO) season.
Fresh off their historic Evolution Cup triumph in Abuja, Green Lock FC’s move to Shagamu marks a strategic pivot aimed at cementing their status as Nigeria’s next grassroots-to-glory story.
“This is a visionary step by the management, and I’m fully aligned with it,” said Idris, his trademark confidence undimmed. “Ogun State is a hotbed of football talent, and we’re here to conquer it. My boys have already shown they can adapt to any challenge.” Idris said.
Addressing the immediate needs of the team as it settles into three new base, the stakes have never been higher, but Idris remains characteristically bullish. “We understand the importance of settling down quickly,” Coach Idris explained.
“The management has assured us that all necessary resources will be provided to ensure a seamless transition. We will also be playing a series of preparatory matches to fine-tune our strategies and build team cohesion.”
“I’ve also told my boys: pressure is a privilege. We’re not here to participate, we’re here to dominate. Ogun State, get ready. The Green Lock revolution has just begun. This team isn’t just talented, they’re fearless,” Idris remarked. “When we faced giants in Abuja, we didn’t back down. Now, in Ogun State, we’ll play the same attacking football, the same intelligent positional play. The NLO will see a team that’s hungry, prepared, and ruthless.”
The coach reserved special praise for the club’s management, insisting on their commitment to providing “everything necessary” for a smooth transition, including expected provision of state-of-the-art training facilities, European-standard equipment, and upgrading player accommodations.
“We’re not just building a team; we’re building an institution,” Idris stressed. “The NLO is our immediate focus, but our eyes are on producing players for Nigeria and beyond. We are confident that the management is also working towards facilities; the pitches, the gym, the recovery rooms—that are designed to meet European standards. Why? Because our boys deserve nothing less.”
Notably, Green Lock’s new academy is modeled after Gulf United FC, UAE and it will begin operations in the summer, blending elite training with academic development.
