NMMA Opens 2026 Call for Entries, Invites Journalists Nationwide

The Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) has announced the commencement of its 2026 call for entries, inviting journalists and media organisations across the country to submit outstanding works published or broadcast in 2025.

In a notice circulated to media houses, the organisers described the annual awards as “Africa’s foremost media excellence platform,” reaffirming their commitment to promoting professionalism, credibility, and high standards in journalism.

“We remain committed to recognising excellence and strengthening professionalism across the media space,” the statement read, adding that the initiative is aimed at encouraging impactful storytelling that serves the public interest.

The call is open to practitioners across print, broadcast, and digital media, including reporters, editors, photographers, columnists, and broadcast journalists. Media organisations are also allowed to submit entries on behalf of eligible staff, while members of the public may nominate broadcast content through designated channels.

According to the organisers, only original works produced within the 2025 calendar year will be considered, stressing that all submissions must meet strict verification and eligibility guidelines.

“We will not accept entries that do not meet the stipulated guidelines,” the organisers warned.

This year’s edition features a broad range of categories, covering key beats such as politics, business, education, health, environment, oil and gas, agriculture, human rights, and defence.
