More than 1,000 widows in Ido-Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State have received food supplies, clothing materials, and cash gifts from the Sam Olu Alo Foundation (SOAF), a humanitarian initiative founded by cleric Prophet Sam Olu Alo.
The outreach, held on Thursday, is an annual program aimed at cushioning the effect of economic hardship on vulnerable groups in the state. In addition to the widows’ support, scholarship awards were also presented to secondary school students from Ido/Osi Local Government.
Prophet Alo, who leads Grace and Mercy Prayer Mountain and owns Adamimogo Communications Limited, used the occasion to urge Nigerians with means to contribute to community development through sustained giving.
He also commented on national issues, voicing support for President Bola Tinubu’s recent order withdrawing police escorts from Very Important Persons (VIPs). According to Alo, the move will make public officials more responsive to the security needs of ordinary citizens.
The cleric further advised Nigerians to shift attention from the Federal Government to state governors, especially in light of increased federal allocations, and to demand greater accountability at the state level.
On the subject of insecurity, Alo opposed negotiations with bandits, insisting that while repentance should be accepted, the government must not compromise in its fight against criminality and violence.
