A leading Nigerian voice in global climate action, Damilola Ogunbiyi, has been named among the world’s most influential environmental leaders on the 2026 TIME Earth list.

The recognition, part of TIME’s prestigious Earth Awards, celebrates individuals making significant contributions to tackling climate change and advancing sustainability worldwide. Now in its fourth year, the awards spotlight changemakers whose work is shaping the future of the planet.

Ogunbiyi, who serves as Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Energy for All and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, was honoured for her efforts in driving the global transition to clean energy and reducing carbon emissions.

Her work has particularly focused on expanding energy access across developing nations while promoting sustainable solutions.
