McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State has held its 14th Matriculation Ceremony, formally admitting 896 new students into its growing academic community.
Welcoming the matriculants on Friday, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, reaffirmed the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, integrity, and service to humanity.
He noted that the steady increase in student enrolment across the institution’s colleges and postgraduate programmes reflects the confidence reposed in McPherson University’s vision and standards.
Professor Igbasan charged the new students to uphold discipline, punctuality, and respect for others, stressing that the university would not compromise its faith-based values or its pursuit of quality education.
According to him, these principles have continued to distinguish McPherson University graduates and position them for success in Nigeria and beyond.
In his address, the Visitor to the University and General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Sam Aboyeji, urged the students to embrace desire, diligence, discipline, determination, and divine guidance. He encouraged them to remain steadfast in their faith, describing devotion to God as a foundation for holistic growth and lifelong achievement.
A breakdown of the admissions shows that 881 students were admitted into the Colleges of Allied Sciences, Computing, Humanities and Social Management Sciences, Law, and Nursing, while 15 were enrolled in the School of Postgraduate Studies.
The ceremony also witnessed the commissioning of newly acquired musical instruments and a school bus donated by the Parents’ Consultative Forum. University authorities expressed optimism that the proposed N1.1 billion Law College building would be completed by 2027, further enhancing the institution’s academic infrastructure.
