McPherson University has welcomed Mrs. Emi Alawode as its new Registrar. The appointment, described by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Francis Igbasan as “strategic,” is one meant to renew focus on responsive governance, operational efficiency, and technology-driven service delivery.
In a statement, Prof. Igbasan highlighted the critical role of the Registry as “the backbone of university administration” and expressed confidence in Mrs. Alawode’s ability to lead a more “collaborative and future-ready” administrative hub. He also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing Acting Registrar, Mr. Olufemi Adebowale, for ensuring stability during the transition period.
Mrs. Alawode brings extensive experience in university administration, governance, and institutional communications to the role. She outlined a people-centered vision for the Registry, emphasizing clarity, empathy, and consistency as foundational values. Her initial priorities include structured consultations with staff and students to identify areas for immediate improvement in service delivery and information access.
A key component of her agenda is the integration of technology into Registry operations. Mrs. Alawode plans to leverage her background in artificial intelligence and digital systems to enhance records management, workflow efficiency, and data integrity.
“Leadership at McPherson is built on continuity and shared institutional memory,” she stated. “My focus is on listening, building on existing strengths, and gradually strengthening our systems. When systems work well, learning thrives.”
The Registrar also affirmed her commitment to an open-door policy, encouraging feedback and collaboration from the university community.
