The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State has resumed the second phase of its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) drive, introducing mobile enrolment units to improve access for voters in hard-to-reach areas.
The exercise recommenced on Monday, January 5, 2026, and will continue until April 17, 2026. Registration is available both online and in person at all 33 INEC local government offices and the state headquarters in Ibadan.
A key feature of this phase is the deployment of INEC Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) machines across 351 registration areas on a rotating 50-day schedule. State Resident Electoral Commissioner Prof. Adeniran Rahmon Tella said this strategy directly addresses widespread complaints from the first phase, where many citizens faced difficulties due to distance and challenging terrain.
The commissioner encouraged all eligible citizens particularly those who have recently turned 18 or have never registered to participate. The exercise also accommodates voters who need to collect unclaimed PVCs, replace lost or damaged cards, or request a transfer of their polling unit within their local government or state.
The initiative is part of INEC’s broader effort to ensure an inclusive and comprehensive voter roll ahead of future elections.
