The Prof. Akin Oyebode Cup, Ekiti State’s premier grassroots football competition, returns to the pitch this week for its second round of matches.
After a successful and high-scoring opening round in December 2025, Match Week 2 is set to kick off on Wednesday, January 21, and continue through Thursday, January 22, 2026.
The tournament, honoring Professor Akin Oyebode and driven by sponsorship from his family, including active involvement from his son, Hon. Akintunde Oyebode (Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance), continues to serve as a vital platform for talent discovery and development. It creates real opportunities for aspiring players, coaches, referees, and administrators across the state, with past editions already feeding prospects into prominent academies such as Beyond Limits FA.
After a thrilling and goal-laden opening round in December 2025, the competition now shifts focus to Match Week 2, scheduled for Wednesday, January 21, and Thursday, January 22, 2026.
