The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has levied significant fines and suspensions against the football federations of Senegal and Morocco, along with multiple players and officials, following the turbulent conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
In a detailed ruling published Wednesday night, CAF’s Disciplinary Board stated the penalties were for “violations of the CAF Disciplinary Code,” including breaches of “the principles of fair play, loyalty and integrity” during and after the championship match.
Senegal Bears Heaviest Punishment
The Senegalese federation (FSF) faces a total financial penalty of $615,000 for three separate infractions:
$300,000 for the “improper conduct of its supporters.”
$300,000 for the “unsporting conduct of their players and technical staff.”
$15,000 for team misconduct related to five player cautions.
Individual sanctions were also severe. Senegal’s head coach, Pape Bouna Thiaw, received a five-match suspension from official CAF competitions and a $100,000 fine for “unsporting conduct” and “bringing the game into disrepute.”
Additionally, two key players were suspended for two official matches each for unsporting behavior towards the match referee:

Moroccan Federation Also Penalized
