British music powerhouse Adele is stepping into a new creative chapter, trading her microphone for movie scripts as she prepares to make her acting debut in Tom Ford’s forthcoming film, Cry to Heaven.
The Grammy-winning singer will join a star-studded cast featuring Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, and rising talent Owen Cooper, known for his breakout role in Adolescence.
Cry to Heaven is an adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel, which unfolds in the 18th-century world of the “castrati”, male singers who were castrated to preserve their angelic, high-pitched voices.
The story delves into themes of artistry, identity, revenge, and self-expression in a world where beauty and pain intertwine.
Adele, whose last album dropped four years ago, has kept a relatively low profile since concluding her Las Vegas residency in 2024. She previously hinted at a desire to take “a big break” from music to explore “other creative things just for a little while.”
That “little while” appears to have taken her straight to Hollywood.
Tom Ford, once a titan of the fashion world, has built a formidable reputation in film with visually striking and emotionally charged works.
