A good number of secondary school students in Lagos took part in a thrilling one-minute street debate challenge organized by the Dare2Debate team, powered by HACmedia.
The interactive event, held at Maryland, Lagos, saw students from both public and private schools debate hot-button issues for a chance to win instant cash prizes.
Participants tackled thought-provoking topics such as whether celebrities should be role models, if Nigeria’s voting age should be reduced to 16, whether democracy is the best system of government, and if politicians’ children should be compelled to attend Nigerian schools.
They also debated issues around corruption, traditions, infrastructure priorities, and even quirky dilemmas like choosing between N20 million cash or an opportunity to travel abroad.
While some students hesitated under the one-minute pressure, others confidently marshalled their arguments and walked away with quick N2,000 prizes.
According to the organizers, the street challenge is a prelude to a much larger debate event scheduled for December 2025. The initiative aims to spark critical thinking, public speaking skills, and civic awareness among young Nigerians.
