Senator Yunus Akintunde, popularly known as “Senator Do More,” is steadily making good on his promises to the people of Oyo Central Senatorial District. In the current, his leadership is translating into tangible development, with critical infrastructure and social investments reaching all corners of the district.
One of the standout achievements under his watch is the installation of solar-powered boreholes, strategically placed to ensure access to clean water, especially in rural communities. His goal: at least one solar-powered water borehole per ward across the senatorial district.
Beyond water, Senator Akintunde is also addressing community safety and night-time productivity. His office has installed solar streetlights at markets, community roads, Okada parks, palaces of traditional rulers, health centers, religious institutions, and other key public locations in all 118 wards of the district.
In the area of education, the Senator is pushing bills in the National Assembly to convert the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, and the Federal School of Surveying to full-fledged universities. Meanwhile, several schools across the district are benefiting from the construction of new classroom blocks to create a more conducive learning environment.
Infrastructure development is also taking shape with the ongoing construction of the Ayegun Oleyo Road. ICT centers, skill acquisition hubs, and classroom facilities are being built in different localities to enhance digital learning and vocational training.
True to his name, Senator Akintunde’s empowerment drive is wide-reaching. Tailors, automobile technicians, traders, ICT professionals, phone repairers, farmers, and welders have all benefitted from his artisan support programs.
He has also facilitated employment for constituents in federal institutions like the Police, Immigration, and Fire Service, with more job placements reportedly in progress.
