Prince William to Champion Ocean Protection at Monaco Summit

Prince William will travel to Monaco this weekend to deliver a major speech urging global collaboration to protect the world’s oceans, as part of activities marking World Oceans Day.

The Prince of Wales will address delegates at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum on Sunday, bringing together environmental advocates, investors, and policymakers in a bid to drive immediate action.

His remarks are expected to focus on the critical need for financial and political commitment to preserving marine ecosystems.

As founder of the Earthshot Prize, an environmental initiative aimed at finding scalable solutions to climate challenges, Prince William is expected to highlight the role of innovation and investment in reversing ocean degradation.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said, “The Prince of Wales believes deeply in the urgency of restoring and protecting our oceans.

His message will be clear: the time for action is now.”

Hosted at the Grimaldi Forum, the event serves as a prelude to the United Nations Oceans Conference in Nice next week. Topics on the agenda include the oceans’ contribution to global trade, food systems, climate stability, and renewable energy.

Meanwhile, Prince Albert II of Monaco, known for his environmental activism, will also be at the forum. He stressed the importance of the gathering, saying: “This event is more than a discussion — it’s a platform to unite leaders from all sectors to turn ideas into lasting impact.”

As ocean health continues to decline, scientists have warned that the continued neglect of marine environments could have devastating consequences for biodiversity and global livelihoods.
