In this age of disruptive listening and media alternatives, radio will have to double shifts to survive. However, one radio station in South-West Nigeria is changing the game with its unconventional content and has been rewarded for daring to do different – Adamimọgo 105.1FM Ibadan.
The name jumps at you at first glance, but when you tune in, you would quietly blend in and change your perception. Not because of what you think it should be, but because it brought a different twist to how you should perceive it.
Blazing The Trail
In just eight months since its launch, Adamimogo 105.1 FM, one of the newest private radio stations in Oyo State, has been recognized as the “Listeners’ Choice” in South-West Nigeria for the year 2024. The station received this prestigious honour at the Primus Media Awards 2024, held on Friday, September 6, at Mauvee 21, Ibadan.
Adamimogo FM, known for its eclectic programming and youth-centered content, has quickly risen to prominence in a state crowded with numerous radio stations. In addition to the Listeners’ Choice Award, the station was also named “The Most Youth-Friendly Station” in Oyo State, a category sponsored by a respected figure in the community, Honorable Akinsete.
Receiving the awards on behalf of the station’s board of trustees, General Manager Mr. Joshua Adegbite expressed gratitude for the station’s rapid success. He attributed the recognition to divine favour, the dedication of the staff, and the unwavering support of listeners.
Adegbite noted that the station, which began operations on February 15, 2024, has made a significant impact in the state’s media landscape, largely thanks to the hard work of its team.
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the station’s listeners, whose loyalty and engagement have been a driving force behind Adamimogo FM’s meteoric rise. “Their love and validation will propel us to achieve even greater things in the coming months,” Adegbite remarked.
On a night filled with glamour and merit, one of the station’s super star presenters, Ibadan Mustapha was also rewarded for her eloquence with the Yoruba language by one of the prominent media personalities in South-West Nigeria, Deolu Gboyega, who doubles as the group manager of another media outfit, CrestFM.
Owned by the globally renowned Prophet Sam Olu Alo, Adamimogo 105.1 FM is part of a broader vision to create a platform for youth empowerment and community engagement. With its strong focus on serving the younger generation, the station has quickly become a favourite among the youth, cementing its position as a key player in the South-West media space.
