A Flotilla Of Haikus

Haiku, a traditional Japanese poetry form, has captivated readers and writers worldwide with its concise yet profound nature.

Typically, a haiku comprises seventeen syllables, divided into three lines of five, seven, and five syllables, respectively. Despite its minimalist structure, haiku provides a distinctive medium for conveying deep insights into nature, emotions, and the human experience.

The brilliance of haiku lies in its simplicity and its capacity to evoke vivid imagery and sentiment with just a few words. Within this collection, Let’s explore a number of them crafted by some poets.

Frailties bring pain’s sting,
Empty bubbles scatter wide,
Covenants in wind.

Pendant on chef’s neck,
Swinging till broccoli meets
Milk in culinary hands.

His thrust like eagle’s,
Catching preys till lands in the
Dolphin’s trench below.

Valiant elbow strong,
In giant’s palm, temples work,
Unexplainable.

In her upholstery,
Pebbles softer than wrenching skies,
Bosom’s palmistry.

A flotilla of Haikus

Stark branches await,
Not dead, but in quiet song,
Blossom’s kiss to come.

Out of mountain mist,
Birds emerge like shadow poems,
Trees listen quietly.

A simple blade of grass,
Without fanfare, it sustains life,
Quietly nurturing.

A songbird in flight,
Soft wind curling from its wings,
Orange blossoms bloom.

Moving grass gently,
Caressed by the light of stars,
Heavenly star fire.

White chrysanthemum,
Purity nested in green,
A gift for my eyes.

Morning sky shining,
Moon and stars offer prayers,
Silent morning hymns.

On the horizon,
Storm clouds prepare their blessing,
A leaf turns upward.

Dark clouds approach like
Menacing soldiers in waves,
Time to take cover.

Wind in the blossoms,
Sweet fragrance fills the air,
Bees drunk on nectar.

Flakes of crystal snow,
Unhurried, gently they fall,
Soft snow geese landing.

A withered flower,
Bending down in its last breath,
Fresh roses on graves.

Edge of a red cliff,
Stone from ancient sea beds,
Water holds memories.

In silent motion,
Reed shadows dance on the water,
A little slice of heaven.

White blossoms unfurl,
Hungry bees find solace,
In soft, love chambers.

A cloud drifts above,
Casting shade on hot days,
A silent blessing.

Indian paintbrush,
Pink spreads across hillside,
A feast for my eyes.

Yellow columbine,
Content in summer’s sunlight,
Seeking no approval.
