Falcon Aerospace Limited has appointed infrastructure finance expert Moshood Bode Abolade as an Independent Non-Executive Director, as the company steps up efforts to secure funding and expand into international markets.
The company, which is the parent brand of private aviation firm VivaJets, said the appointment comes at a critical stage in its growth strategy, with plans to scale operations across key regions.
Abolade brings years of experience spanning investment banking, energy and infrastructure finance. His role on the board is expected to provide financial oversight and guide the company’s capital-raising initiatives.
Reacting to his appointment, Abolade said he was pleased to join the company at a time of expansion, noting that its vision for regional connectivity and global reach presents significant opportunities.
“I look forward to leveraging my experience… to help drive the strategic funding initiatives required to cement Falcon’s position,” he said.
Chief Executive Officer of Falcon Aero, Erika Achum, described the appointment as a boost to the company’s ambitions, particularly as it engages global capital markets.
She said Abolade’s experience in structuring complex financial deals and executing large-scale investments would support the company’s expansion plans.
Abolade has held roles at several major institutions, including Africa50, BUA Group, FBN Merchant Bank, United Capital Plc and Vetiva Capital Management Limited.
He holds a degree from the University of Lagos and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Operating Officer, Tejumade Salami, said Abolade’s expertise aligns with the company’s operational direction, especially as it expands its fleet and footprint beyond Africa.
As part of its funding strategy, Falcon Aero recently secured a $10 million credit facility from TLG Capital, in partnership with Wema Bank, to support the growth of VivaJets.
